In 2023, IAA hosted 3 artist salons featuring panels and discussions with leading practitioners in immersive and experience design.

Artist Salon #3: Experience Design Conversations

September 27, 2023

IAA hosted an engaging panel discussion titled "Experience Design Conversations" at the Gray Area Foundation in San Francisco. Moderated by environment designer Don Richards, the salon featured successful experience design professionals Sally Weber, Craig Newswanger, Sean Mason, and Meredith Winner. They provided insightful perspectives on why experience design is rapidly growing in importance and how they forged careers in this innovative field. Attendees also enjoyed free tastings of absinthe from the woman-owned distillery Absinthia.

Moderator Don Richards has developed environments and digital media for a range of organizations, events and companies, including Cirque du Soleil, Google, and the Parks Conservancy.

Sally Weber and Craig Newswanger created the "Entangled Attraction" exhibit at the Exploratorium, which ran for 5 months due to popular demand.

Sean Mason is the Chief Creative Officer of the Immersive Division at A3 Visual and a Co-Founder of Let's Glow SF, a projection mapping festival in Downtown San Francisco.

Meredith Winner is a founder of Building 180, and has a mission to “inspire change through art and to help artists maintain sustainable careers.” She co-founded Paint The Void, coordinating nearly 200 murals on boarded storefronts in the wake of COVID-19.
